The founder of “Chen Jiah Juang Orchard”, Chen Kun-sheng, insisted that no pesticides, chemical fertilizers, and herbicides should be applied to crop planting, nor should synthetic chemical additives be applied to processed products 30 years ago when the consumer awareness of organic and non-toxic products was not popular yet. His son Chen Po-chang has succeeded to the vocation.

At the time that organic farming has not become trendy yet in the early 1990s, Chen Jiah Juang labeled the entrepreneurial concept by using this simple and unsophisticated “natural farming without pesticides” seal pattern to label the entrepreneurial concept.

The owner of the Chen Jiah Juang Orchard, Chen Kun-sheng, graduated from the Animal Husbandry Department of the Agricultural College, Chung Hsing University, used to be a straightforward and industrious peasant boy, born in Ditougang Village, Yanshui Township, Tainan County. Although he was away from home when he pursued studies, and engaged in animal husbandry-related careers after graduation. Until an unexpected chance came upon him that made him determined to return from the city to the countryside of his hometown to buy a piece of farmland and switched careers into Agriculture, and founded “Chen Jiah Juang Orchard” in 1989, due to his childhood memory of the natural farming experience with his father in the fields which affected him deeply.

Being concerned about the ecological environment and opposed to toxic substances, Chen Kun-sheng keeps his passion for respecting life and cherishing the land. He has made up mind not to use pesticides, chemical fertilizers, and herbicides starting from his first land's farming when he aspired to become a farmer, and he held the principle “natural farming without pesticides”, which set forth the founding value of Chen Jiah Juang Orchard.

Chen Kun-sheng insisted on the maverick natural farming that was a waste of manpower, time and money at the time that organic farming has not become trendy yet. Although he was ridiculed as a fool, he did not change his ambition and thus became one of the forerunners of organic farming in Taiwan.

Based on the concept of protecting the ecological environment and disagreeing with the use of toxic substances as well, he never uses chemical additives in the process of making processed agricultural products, such as preservatives, artificial flavors, and artificial pigments, which are harmful to the human body, and he adheres to the principle of “natural, healthy, and genuine flavor”.

Such persistence of natural farming and products has won acclaims from newspapers and magazines since 1993. Upon the organic farming concept gradually prevailed in Taiwan, Chen Jiah Juang's self-owned farm has successively earned relevant organic certification and proceeded with authentication since 1999.

The simple agriculture-oriented character and the unchangeable insistence on natural farming and products have been the original goal and unwavering belief of Chen Jiah Juang since its founding.

Chen Jiah Juang's Self-Owned Farm|Natural Farming — No Use of Pesticides, Chemical Fertilizers, and Herbicides

  • Chen Jiah Juang's self-owned farm's primarily farm produces are mulberry, mulberry leaf, passion fruit, red-pulp guava, tomato, lemon, pineapple, mountain soursop, white gourd and brown rice used in premium brown rice vinegar. Those are used as the raw materials for its own agricultural processed products, of which pertain to organic/ natural/non-toxic farming. For the insufficient-harvest passion fruit, plums and olives that are not suitable for planting on the self-owned farms, Chen Jiah Juang carefully selects other Taiwanese farmers who are committed to organic/natural/non-toxic farming to ensure the safety of agricultural raw materials and to maintain high quality.
  • Chen Jiah Juang's self-owned farms do not use greenhouses, isolation chambers, nor do they cover the land with plastic sheets. Instead, he allows the crops to grow naturally under the sun and rain, as well as allowing the soil to breathe freely.

  • Sugar-sweetened fruit juices, fruit vinegars, and jam products, use 100% of “rock sugar (unbleached)” (primitive-color rock sugar).
  • No preservatives are added, so juice and jam products shall be refrigerated, please consumed as soon as possible after it's opened.
  • No stabilizer is added, so the mashed pulp of fruit juice and fruit vinegar products will naturally precipitate, please shake before drinking.
  • No antioxidants are added, so the natural primitive color of the product will gradually darken over time.
  • Fruit vinegar and rice vinegar products are natural manually fermented / brewed by inoculated yeast and acetic acid bacteria, using 100% of natural agricultural raw materials, as well as using ancient techniques of using large pottery urn as the farm produces' fermented container. Through long period of static fermentation / mixed extraction and ripening stage, without ventilation and stirring or adding alcohol to accelerate the process, and shall not contain chemical substances harmful to human body such as glacial acetic acid.
